2018 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado Revealed at Party of the Year

November 8, 2018, Denver, CO – After months of accepting and reviewing applications, debriefing survey results, number crunching, and very fierce competition, last Thursday, ICC: Innovate. Coach. Consult. revealed the winners for the 2018 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado awards program. At the event where over 200 executives and their team members gathered to network and celebrate the best of the best, four winners were unveiled at the party of the year.

This year, the awards were presented based on the following category sizes: extra-small (15-40 employees), small (41-99 employees), medium (100-250 employees) and large (over 250 employees). Each company category had four company finalists, upping the number of 9 finalists from last year’s competition to 16 finalists.

“As we were calculating the results to determine finalists, it became apparent that the challenges that a company with 15 employees faces is not the same as a company with 100 employees. To ensure all companies were represented and celebrated, we decided to add an extra company category” adds Shawna Simcik, ICC’s President of Business Leadership.

After calculating response rates from employees, reviewing culture scores, and each of the 16 finalists submitting videos on why they should be a best company, the public voted, and the number of finalists was narrowed down to of the four Best Companies to Work for in Colorado. Awards were presented to the following extraordinary organizations:

  1. Extra-Small Company: Revenue River
  2. Small Company: Footers Catering
  3. Medium Company: BombBomb
  4. Large Company: Collabera, Inc.

While each of the program winners and finalists had unique differences that made them stand out against the rest of the competition, they also had the following attributes in common:

  • Best Companies understand that business requires careful attention to the “soft” side of the organization. That is, the values and beliefs that are the “heart of the company”, the policies and practices that put those values into action, and the importance of teaching employees an understanding of how they create value for their customers.
  • Culture to them is not simply values written on a wall. They integrate culture into everything that they do – policies, procedures, rewards, recognition, etc.
  • Their leadership has articulated a vision, a business strategy and how each individual employee helps them achieve business results.
  • These unique organizations are intentional and proactive about crafting their culture.
  • They listen to their employees, but not only listen, they act upon feedback. Even if the action is, “we are not doing anything about that now.”

Not only were awards presented to the winners and finalists, but ICC recognized four outstanding organizations for their commitment to creating change, team orientation, customer focus and culture momentum. Each of the awards were presented to the following organizations respectively: Interior Environments, Vi at Highlands Ranch, Douglas County Libraries and Merritt Aluminum Products Company.
